MASS TIMES at Beacon:
A rotation of times each month.
1st Sunday of the month: 8.30pm Sunday
2nd Sunday of the month: No Mass
3rd Sunday of the month: 5pm Sunday
4th Sunday of the month: No Mass
5th Sunday of the month: No Mass
Beacon’s first Mass was said in the Hall in 1935 by Father Benedict, O.S.B. During the Depression, Mass was discontinued but in 1950 Mass was said again in the District four times a year. In 1953 Mass was said in the CWA Hall, which was also the venue of the first Mission in that year.
The current Church was built in 1960 and opened by Rev. Lord Abbot Dom Gregory Gomez O.S.B. on 15 Oct 1961.
St Augustine’s – Beacon Anglican Church
Located: Cnr Lucas St & Hamilton St, Beacon
St Augustines’s Anglican Church was de-Consecrated on 23rd August 2020.
History:
St. Augustine’s was Consecrated 4/09/1957, after many years of worshipping in the old CWA building. In 1997, following a bequest from Mrs W Medlin, the porch area was added. After the last Stipended priest departed, ministry was provided by a new initiative called T.E.A.M. where congregation members were trained & ordained to serve locally. Ministry was provided by local priests, Rev’ds Peta & Gerry Kirby from 2000 to 2007.
Beacon congregation belonged to the combined Parish of Mukinbudin-Mt. Marshall which has since been dissolved by the Diocese of Perth.
